Environmental philosophy

COMMITMENT

In September 2015, the 193 states that conposes the United Nations General Assembly agreed on a roadmap for the exponential growth of the world population in 2050. The plan was reflected in the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, where 17 are established Sustainable Development Goals. The objectives are the response to the challenges of the present moment, to restore the ecological balance of the planet and to tackle the most urgent social challenges: the end of poverty and inequalities, thereby improving the living conditions of the population.

The Agenda requires changing the current production and consumption model towards a circular economy, which implies producing more while consuming less, reducing the impact of our activity on the environment without depleting natural resources. Recycling is the lever to promote sustainable production, consumption and life styles.

At PROTISA we are aligned and committed to protecting the planet, it is our responsibility and an opportunity to create a better world. We assume to be a model of “Ecology of Life” giving the paper a second chance. OUR HISTORY

1995

FIRST RECYCLED PAPER MANUFACTURER IN THE CANARY ISLANDS

Inauguration of the recycled tissue paper factory in the Canary Islands from recovered paper for domestic and industrial use, including its manufacture and cellulose paper.

SINCE 2008

ISO 14001

PROTISA obtains the ISO 14001 certification for an Environmental Management System (EMS), for the commitment assumed in the protection of the environment through the management of the environmental risks associated with its activity.

2008-2015

ISO 9001

PROTISA obtains the ISO 9001 certification of Quality Standard Certification (QSC), and provides the bases to develop processes and effective personnel that result in effective products and services over time.

2008-2010

EMAS

PROTISA adheres to the European Regulation Community Regulation for Eco-management and Eco-audits) thanks to the factory implementation of an Environmental Management System through the ISO 14001 standard.

2018

FSC® CERTIFICATE

PROTISA obtains the FSC® (Forest Stewardship Council) certification for the manufacture and sale of FSC® Mixed and FSC® Recycled from obtaining resources in a sustainable way.

2016

IFS HPC

PROTISA adopts the standard to audit the quality and safety of its cleaning products and processes for domestic use and personal care products.

2018

DEMOLA PROGRAM

PROTISA develops together with students from the University of La Laguna a project to promote and raise awareness about the importance of consuming recycled paper, replacing pure cellulose with more sustainable products.

2020

I+D+I

Incorporation of a new converting line to improve the energy efficiency of the manufacturing chain and diversify its production. Project co-financed by the Government of the Canary Islands and the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

ECOLABEL

The European Commission grants PROTISA the Ecolabel certificate, thus becoming the first Canarian manufacturer with this distinction for its work of environmental excellence.
